This month, we’re celebrating OBG’s momentous 3rd Anniversary! OBG is the ONLY post-adoption support org in Ohio organized and facilitated by birth parents themselves, making this 3rd Anniversary that much sweeter, if you ask us. Those of you familiar with the trials and tribulations of post-adoption work know how difficult it can be to sustain an independent, self-funded group- particularly when histories of secrecy and the politics of adoption often work to keep us separated from each other. Not only has OBG succeeded in building a thriving intergenerational community of birth parents across the state of Ohio, we’ve also created new spaces in Central Ohio (our general meetings!) for adoptees, birth parents, adoptive parents and others to connect and learn from each others’ perspectives.
At its core, OBG is a radical project that places marginalized voices at the center of adoption support, education and advocacy. Our community is forged not only through those things our participants have in common, but also through our shared commitments to interrogate the differences among our experiences with adoption. We look forward to another year of support, community and difficult dialogues among peers- and another year of working for social change in Ohio.
If you haven’t been to a meeting yet, join us in November for your last chance to win one of our Anniversary Raffle prizes!

**NEW Meeting Times
Due to changing Columbus Public Library policies, OBG will be shortening the duration of our monthly support meetings starting in November. In light of recent policy changes, our group discussions will be shortened from 2 hours to 1.5 hours to make sure that folks have enough time to connect one-on-one after each group discussion. Our meeting spaces will still be reserved for the full 2 hours so you can come just for group discussion (1.5 hours) or stay late to chat with friends (up to 30 minutes).
